Controller Will Not Connect to WiFi
Overview
When setting up your beam controller, the first step is to get it connected to your home's wireless network. This allows the system to download the latest firmware and perform its initial configuration. If you are having trouble during the programming step, there are several common problems that can occur.
WiFi status light does not turn off while programming WiFi
For beam, Garageio, and Guardian Smart Controllers
While you are holding your phone over the SETUP port and the screen is blinking, the WIFI status light should shut off during this period. If it does not turn off, check the following:
- Verify that the screen on your phone actually blinks after pressing the "Begin Setup" button.
- Completely cover the SETUP port with the phone. Leave no gap between the screen and the side of the controller.
- Point the phone screen toward the SETUP port.
- Phones with a higher Refresh rate than 60Hz need to switch it back to 60Hz on Display settings on your phone (e.g. Samsung S20, S21, OnePlus 8T, etc)
- Contact customer support.
WiFi status light goes flashing red immediately after programming WiFi
For beam, Garageio, and Guardian Smart Controllers
After you program your WiFi credentials the WiFI status light must light green immediately for 3 seconds, if the WiFi status light goes to flashing red immediately after programming WiFi, check the following:
- Phones with a higher Refresh rate than 60Hz need to switch it back to 60Hz on Display settings on your phone (e.g. Samsung S20, S21, OnePlus 8T, etc).
- Try putting your phone on Power Saving mode (Ulta Power Saving mode if available) and then try programming WIFI again. You can disable it after the setup.
